We hear politicians say we need to put kids first when it comes to education but time and again they fail to deliver on that promise.

I believe in putting teachers first. I believe our job in the state legislature is to lessen the burden on teachers, make teaching the sort of career that leads to the middle and upper middle class with higher salaries and more control over what they teach in the classroom.

I’m opposed to school vouchers that would take away taxpayer funds to support private schools and create inequity in our schools.

We have a long way to go, but I think we can have the best education system in the world if we start by investing in our teachers.
